Change you computer screen settings

On a PC running Windows 95 and upwards, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings and change the desktop area by using the sliding bar.

On Windows Vista, go to the “Ease of Access Center” by selecting Winkey+U or via the Control Panel link in the Vista Start Menu.

On an Apple Mac, you can use the Monitor & Sound Control Panel to change the resolution.

Change the font size

Navigate the screen using the Tab key

  • Press the TAB key while holding down the Ctrl key to switch between open tabs on the same browser
  • Press T while holding down the Ctrl key to open a new tab on an open browser
  • Press the TAB key while holding down the Ctrl + Alt keys to switch between open browsers or programmes
  • To return to the home page, press Alt + 1 + Enter, anywhere on the site.
  • Scroll the page using Arrow Keys Try using the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll up and down the page. You can also use the ‘Page up’ and ‘Page Down’ keys to move a screen’s length at a time.

 

Improve the way your keyboard or mouse works

You can fine-tune your mouse and keyboard settings under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Accessibility in Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and XP.

Skipping navigation for talking browsers and screen readers

For speech browsers, you can press Alt and S followed by Enter to skip navigation on our pages.
